Hezbollah militias have established new corridors and tunnels in Syria, as many of its previous ones have been discovered earlier and some were targeted, MENA sources reported, indicating that the map of illegal corridors and tunnels have been modified in all areas where the militia is present.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah continues using the same sectarian approach as it attracts people to Shiism.
The group is still active in Aleppo and has set up offices in the Al-Jamiliya and Salah Addin neighborhoods to bring people to Shiism. Those are poor and very crowded neighborhoods and the group takes advantage of the residents’ poverty to attract them the Shiism. In a similar context, the militia has set up offices for the so-called “temporary marriage.” It has built a Shiite mosque in the area of Mokharam in Hama northern countryside, where Hezbollah gives money to poor people and invite them to Shiism through some of the area’s Imams. Among those Imams are Mokhles al-Arif and Ahmed al-Deiri that spread Shiism in the Sunni villages such as al-Samra and al-Fanat, to which some Hezbollah leaders come often.
In the Syrian south, where Hezbollah has spread all kinds of drugs, it controls the building of civil affairs in order to understand the structure of the society in Quneitra province, and that happened in coordination with the the Secretary of the Ba’ath Party branch in Quneitra, Khaled Walid Abaza. Hezbollah also opened a security center specialized in pursuing what it calls “Israel’s agents”, including those who had reconciled with the regime. That was a good pretext for Hezbollah to arrest or assassinate anyone against its policies in Region.
Militarily wise, Hezbollah strategy is based on securing the route of Jadiedat Mahrous with Iranian air defence systems after being targeted for several times on the old route. Therefore, Hezbollah has dug trenches and built barriers. Additionally, it deployed more than 200 fully equipped militiamen, and provided them night binoculars in Qunaitira near the border with Israel.
Focusing on Central Syria
In the area of Eastern Qalamoun of Damascus countryside, which considered as one of Hezbollah strategic areas due to its location between Homs and Damascus, and that it is close to the Lebanese border; Hezbollah has withdrawn militiamen from some positions and handed them to the Syrian regime’s army.
It redeployed those militiamen in the east oh Homs, on the AL-Masoudiya-Ein al-Nisr and al-Musheirfa road, where the Electronic Warfare Department and the College of Petro-chemistry are located. Many sources confirm that Iranian experts and officers are working in those two facilities.
The redeployment of Hezbollah and the attempts to be far from Damascus countryside are a result of the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the illegal passages
The partial redeployment that Hezbollah is implementing to be far from the countryside of Damascus was a result of the Israeli air strikes that targeted the illegal passages used by Hezbollah between Syria and Lebanon to smuggle fighters, money and drugs.
The Israeli pressure prompted Hezbollah to open other passages from Homs. MENA sources revealed that the group is now using the Tel Kalakh route, which was used when the Syrian army was present in Lebanon, as a military route.
According to the source, Hezbollah has dug a tunnel near the area of al-Areeda, which connects Syria with Lebanon, as there was not any border crossing in that area before, nor there were any routes that links both countries together. By doing that, Hezbollah avoids passing through the illegal routes in the Sunni villages. At the same time Hezbollah guarantees reaching the Shiite places, the Hermel area in particular. In the northern countryside of Hama, Hezbollah controls missiles base that belongs to the regime forces and contains radars network. Sources believe that this base is directly controlled by Iran due to its geographic importance. It is located on the top of a hill that overlooks a vast plain and is a linking point between the coastal region, the Syrian Desert and the roads that lead to Iraq.
