Brigadier General Abu al-Fadl Shakarji, the spokesman for the Iranian armed forces, has accused the Saudi media of making media noise regarding the security of maritime navigation in the Sea of Oman.
“The contradictory news of some Western, Zionist and Saudi media outlets is a kind of psychological warfare and provides the ground for new adventures,” Shakarji says, in statements to the Iranian Fars news agency, which was reported by Russian media.
“The Iranian armed forces, within their assistance for the safe passage of commercial ships, are given a full intelligence briefing and are fully prepared for any suspicious movements,” he adds.
Shakarji has stressed in his statements that the IRGC and the Iranian Army are ready to provide any assistance and send relief units if necessary and to ask foreign ships.
The British Organization for Coordination of Commercial Shipping said, on Wednesday, that the hijackers in the Gulf of Oman had left the ship, and it is currently safe.
“The people who boarded the ship have left it, the ship is currently safe and the incident is over,” the organization said in a statement.
It is noteworthy that the British Maritime Trade Authority announced, on Tuesday, that a “possible hijacking incident” occurred off the United Arab Emirates coast, but did not provide details of the ships involved. Reuters reported that the Iranian Foreign Ministry had warned of what it says are “suspicious reports” about a ship hijacking off the coast of the UAE, warning against trying to create what it described as a “false atmosphere” against Iran.
